Agreement signed for the transfer of historic records from the Department of Justice to the National Archives

Samuel VUELTA-SIMON, Secretary of Justice, and Michaël BLOCHE, Director of the National Archives, today signed an agreement to transfer part of the Department of Justice’s historic records (up to 1949) to the National Archives.

The documents transferred include court records dating back to 1815, with judgments passed by the Principality’s historic judicial institutions such as the justice of the peace, the criminal court, and the higher court. There are also records of Council of State sessions and deliberations from 1905 onwards.

This first transfer of historic documents from the Department of Justice is the culmination of several years of cooperation between the two organisations aimed at modernising archiving methods and preserving historically significant records.

Other organisations that have entrusted their historic documents to the National Archives recently include the National Council, Monaco Scientific Centre (CSM), the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace (CHPG), and the RAMOGE Agreement.
