Monaco Celebrates World Philosophy Day 2025: A Dialogue on Thought, Society and Culture

On Saturday, 29 November 2025, Monaco will host a cultural gathering dedicated to the power of critical thinking and dialogue, as the ACLI Association of the Principality of Monaco celebrates World Philosophy Day 2025 at the AGORA – Maison Diocésaine.

The event is held under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Monaco, reinforcing the Principality’s commitment to intellectual exchange and intercultural reflection.

Created by UNESCO, World Philosophy Day invites communities around the world to reflect on the value of philosophy in contemporary society — from ethics and communication to creativity, education, and social cohesion.

A Space for Reflection and Debate

The Monaco event, organised by ACLI Monaco, aims to bring together philosophers, journalists, writers, and cultural figures for a morning of constructive dialogue.

“ACLI of the Principality of Monaco is proud to promote World Philosophy Day,” said Ginevra De Masi, President of ACLI Monaco. “This will be an important opportunity to encourage dialogue, reflection and debate on the themes that challenge our time. We already thank the speakers and institutions for their support in contributing to the success of a cultural event that wishes to open itself to the entire community.”

Programme Highlights

The morning programme will open with remarks by Ginevra De Masi, followed by an institutional greeting from Niccolò Caissotti di Chiusano, Honorary President of ACLI Monaco.

Two keynote interventions will frame the core philosophical reflections:

  • Flavia Silli, Professor of Philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University, specialist in epistemology, personalism, and 20th-century Italian aesthetics.
  • Gerardo De Vivo, journalist and author, with more than twenty years of experience in radio news media and acclaimed for his book Quarti di gloria.

The event will then transition into a round-table discussion exploring the relationship between philosophy, society, communication, and contemporary creativity. Participants include:

  • Francesca Bocchi, Journalist, Montecarlo Style
  • Alessandra Luti, Director, Fashion Wow
  • Kolab Setten, Journalist, QE Magazine

The debate will be moderated by Giulia Frigo, Journalist, Montecarlo Style.

A Cultural Event Open to the Community

The celebration of World Philosophy Day in Monaco reflects a growing appreciation for cultural and intellectual initiatives within the Principality — a place often recognized for its luxury, yet increasingly attentive to deeper questions of identity, ethics, creativity, and community.

This gathering invites residents, newcomers, and guests alike to pause and reflect on the role of philosophy in navigating today’s complex world — from technology and media to personal values and collective responsibility.
